PAPERBACK: KINDLE eBOOK:
It was recently my honor to be a guest on The Last Knock Podcast. Interviewed by host Billy Crash I had a wonderful time, and I think that this is my best podcast yet. Through the course of the interview we discuss women’s roles in horror as characters, my writing career, what my parents thought of my early penchant for horror, why you should be reading – anything, and of course, my debut novel DISEASE (available now as a serialized eBook, and in full edition paperback and eBook October 23, 2014).
The Last Knock is available on iTunes, or, if you haven’t been bitten by the iBug, right HERE.
Sending out my work is always a nerve wracking experience. You never know how a reviewer will respond to the material, or even what kind of mood they’ll be in when they pick up the book. The best that can be hoped for is an honest and straightforward critique of the work.
Recently DISEASE was reviewed over at HorrorAddicts.net. This is a site created by horror fans, for horror fans, and it’s dedicated to all that goes bump in the night. As you can imagine they get lots of horror related material over there, and DISEASE was just one of many sitting in a pile that increased daily. That’s why when reviewer David Watson told me that he loved my book, I was so excited and happy.
Among the many wonderful things that David had to say about DISEASE he wrote:
Disease is the kind of book that I would show to someone when they ask why I like to read horror.”
What a wonderful compliment.
If you’d like to read the entire review, you can find it HERE
Do you love killing zombies? Of course you do. Everyone does. That’s right. Every single person in the whole wide universe (or multiverse) does.
We love stomping them, maiming them, and splattering their brains all over the sidewalk. It’s a scientific fact. We can’t help ourselves. But did you every notice that sometimes zombies seem a little too easy to kill? I have, and that’s the discussion I have over at BuyZombie.com in my guest post “To Kill A Zombie”. Head on over there to give it a read.
I’m really starting to rack up the podcast notches on that bedpost of mine! Pseudopod is an amazing horror fiction podcast and they were kind enough to do a blurb and excerpt of DISEASE for me. Pop on over to their website to hear the cast!
The wait is over! The second installment of my novel, DISEASE: SERIAL 2, is now available at your favorite eBook retailer. I’m excited that other people are excited to read it. I actually received a wonder compliment from someone the other day, who told me that they almost missed their bus stop because they were so engrossed in the novel. Hearing that put a huge smile on my face. There is no better bar to set for a book than to completely remove the reader from the outside world when they open the pages. Somehow, beyond all reason, I have managed to do that!
I hope you’ll also find yourself so engrossed as to miss your bus stop (or whatever it is that’s relevant to your life), when you pick up a copy of the next serial of DISEASE.
Are you ready for it? I’m scared shitless because DISEASE: SERIAL 1 hit shelves this morning. Will anyone buy it? Will anyone like it after they read it? I think so, but I don’t really know. I’ve been pushing hard to get the word out about my book, and now I have to push even harder. This is no time to slow down (no mater how much I want to)!
The problem with being an unknown author is, well, being unknown. It’s hard to get noticed in the sea of other books that readers have at their fingertips. If you’re reading this, I’ve reached you, and I ask you not only to give my book a chance, but to also share the word. Authors like me can only keep writing with your continued support.
So, check out DISEASE: SERIAL 1, available at your favorite eBook retailer, and don’t forget to tell your friends!
It’s no secret that I love zombies. I love zombies so much I wrote a damn zombie novel! I love talking zombies, I love thinking about zombies, and I love expounding upon the virtues of both the classic slow zombie and the newer fast zombie. My novel, DISEASE, has both. Find out why over at Zombie Guide Magazine where I guest blog all about it.
During the long and often heart wrenching process of writing a novel it can be hard to keep my head above water sometimes. The task can seem awful daunting, especially when faced with the blank page. I write about how I trapped my muse for my novel DISEASE in a guest blog post with host R.J. Keith. Check it out right here: http://accessoriesnotincluded.com/
There are few things better than chatting horror and gore, except maybe chatting horror, gore, and zombies! I sit down with blog host Christine Verstraete to discuss my novel DISEASE, and dish on the gory details. Head on over to Zombie Girl Authors to read my guest post “The Art of Gore” and learn how I balance story and violence in the post-apocalyptic world of DISEASE.
DISEASE: SERIAL 1 goes on sale TOMORROW, September 18th, 2014. Available for Kindle, iBooks, Nook, Kobo, and more! Hit up your favorite eBook retailer for a copy.
